Each year, the world can witness various cultural themed events. An example of 2018 is the European Year of Cultural Heritage. This cultural event was celebrated throughout Europe, in all EU member states and multiple other countries in the continent. The slogan for this event was ‘’Our Heritage: where the past meets the future’’. During this year, many initiatives and events took place that celebrated Europe’s cultural heritage.

In the Netherlands in 2019, another cultural theme event took place; this year was called the 2019 van Gogh year, honoring this artist’s work in various museums.

Other examples of cultural theme events include Carnival in Brazil, Holi (festival of colors) in India and Boryeong Mud Festival in Korea.
