Haarlem

The modern and historic city of Haarlem has a population of around 161,265 residents. The city is known as a historic center, and it is one of the most Flemish cities in the Netherlands. In the past, this city was mainly known for its shipyards, textiles, textile mills, and engineering plants. Later on, the city became known as an axis/center for Dutch painting.

Due to its rich history, there are many museums, churches, and monuments in the area. Visit the many churches, the Flower-bulb-region, and all the historical monuments and buildings during your incentive trip.

Highlights that should not be missed are the Teylers museum, filled with all types of scientific artifacts, and the Frans Hals Museum, which is dedicated to Dutch painter, and de Grote Kerk, which is a late gothic cruciform basilica. Of course, there is also the possibility to do other things in Haarlem, such as shopping; this city is also known for being the best shopping city in the Netherlands!

Additionally: On the 5th of May, residents of Haarlem celebrate Bevrijdingspop. This event is an annual happening to celebrate freedom. Another interesting yearly event is the Flower Parade, which starts in Noordwijk and stretches until the historic city Haarlem.
